Bio ink on kombucha biofilm

For this piece I grew, dried, and painted 60 square feet of kombucha biofilm.

This biofilm (aka kombucha mother or SCOBY) is created by a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast.

Kombucha biofilm will take on the texture of whatever surface it is dried on.
